CAUSES OF SOME MACHINE PROBLEMS

Ways To Prevent Problems

  • When removing a paper jam always remove the paper out the way it travels through the printers paper path.
  • Never "yank" the paper out. (we all have the temptation to do this sometimes)
  • Replace parts & service items when called for.
  • Replace your ozone filters (if used) regularly.
  • If cleaning wands (felts or wicks) are used replace with each new cartridge placed in the machine.
  • Have the machine cleaned regularly.
  • Use surge protectors from your power supply. (should be used for computers also).

COMMON PROBLEMS

Listed below are some common problems that occur with printers, faxes & photocopiers. These are just general causes there is always the possibility that it maybe something else. If in doubt please contact us for further help at [email protected] or 019-3650470.

SPOTS ON THE PAGE: If the spot or mark is repeating down the page at a regular distance the problem is usually the imaging unit. If all in one (toner & drum unit) cartridge change the cartridge or change the imaging unit.
If the machine has a separate developer unit (check your operating manual for this information) this may also be the cause.

DOUBLE IMAGING OR GHOSTING: The main cause of this problem is the fuser unit. This will need to be cleaned or replaced. As in the above cases you can eliminate the fuser unit by changing the toner cartridge & see if the problem persists.

LINES ACROSS THE PAGE: The waste toner area of the machine could be full. Replace, empty or clean the waste hopper. The toner cartridge could be defective & should be replaced.

VOIDED, FADED OR BLANK AREAS: Make sure that the toner cartridge is full. The majority of calls we receive with this problem are because an empty cartridge has been put back in the machine or the seal has not been removed from the cartridge. Moisture in the paper can cause light printing. This problem is common in high humidity conditions. TIP: With photocopiers copy one sheet of paper than turn it upside down & run it through the copier again.Doing these dries out the paper & a perfect copy should be produced if it is a moisture problem.

DARK PAGES: This could be because the density setting is set too dark or you might be trying to photocopy from coloured paper. Some photocopiers have a problem with certain coloured papers.
Another cause could be poor electrical contact is being made between the cartridge or imaging unit & the machine.

OTHER PROBLEMS: For problems not listed here or if you have a question, then you can contact us at: [email protected] or 019-3650470.Please include a detailed description of the problem, what you have tried to do to correct it, machine model & type & the type of environment it is in i.e:.air-conditioned , dusty etc.
